Except those two where plain obvious joke, not like Kanaya’s one. Still, I don’t see why people care so much. 

I mean John stated in cannon that “he’s not an homosexual” and some of the most popular ships I’ve seen are JonhXDave and JohnXKarkat, most of who don’t even seem like they need to justify there ship. The point is, people can ship what the hell they want, because characters change and because we’re talking about fictional characters.
